Laughter Yoga is a joyous way to exercise
your body and your mind
Would
you like to bring more joy into your life?
Would you like to exercise and have fun
doing it? Then Laughter Yoga is for You!
Developed by Dr. Matan Kataria of India,
laughter yoga concentrates on the breath and
the physical act of laughter, whether real
or contrived, as a way to better health and
overall well being. Simply put, laughter
yoga is a series of exercises consisting of
breathing, clapping and laughing, with
guidance from professionally trained
Laughter Yoga leader, Caryl Derenfeld. It is
a joyous way to exercise your body and
invigorate your mind.
Laughter yoga IS NOT hatha yoga positions,
but a series of body/mind activities which
will help you achieve a greater sense of
well being, increase your oxygen intake and
endorphin levels, therefore providing your
body with the most joyous aerobic activity.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE & LAUGHTER
YOGA WORKSHOP
Caryl Derenfeld, Certified Laughter Yoga
Leader, Motivational Speaker and Owner of
Learned Conversations, Inc., leads a
workshop on Laughter for corporate and other
interested groups.
Laughter is a physiological and
psychological release that is desperately
needed yet underutilized in these difficult
times. Laughter Yoga is a great way to build
team spirit, to express the joy in our lives
that is often suppressed due to pressures of
work and/or family. It is a simple yet
overlooked notion that we must breathe
deeply every day and smile in the midst of
the seriousness of life. Opening hearts and
minds to the simplicity yet the profoundness
of laughter and the breath is what this
workshop is all about.
In the first session of this two part
workshop, Caryl explains the difference
between laughter and humor, and sites
scientific studies that reveal the
physiological and psychological benefits of
laughter. Here attendees discover what makes
them laugh and who makes them laugh, why we
may laugh in ‘unfunny’ situations and how
laughter is a conduit that connects us to
others.
The second session of the workshop is a
practicum called "Laughter Yoga." Laughter
Yoga consists of breathing, laughing and
clapping, as a means of connecting with our
joyous selves and with others. It is a
wonderful team building and personal
experience that leaves each individual
exhilarated and energized. Here we use
‘laughter language’ rather than the spoken
word to communicate. It is proof positive
that there are many paths to positive
communication, and talking is but one way.
It is an exercise, so bring a
water bottle and wear comfortable clothing.
